Under general supervision, applies methods outlinedin the Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPMP) to control and manage pests on USMilitary Installations.
Position includes application of EPA registered and DoDapproved products and chemicals for pest management operations. Maintainsoversight for area of responsibility and participates in environmentalcommunication and training to increase awareness and protection of theenvironment.
The Pest Management Specialist will be either DoD Certified or aState-Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator with appropriate sub-categories.
Additionally, the individual's certification must be authorized for theprocurement of restricted use insecticides and rodenticides.
A copy of the Pest Specialist current certification / validlicense and refresher requirements from the certifying agent must be providedat time of hire to the Sr.
EHS Engineer. Additionally, the Pest ManagementSpecialist is required to maintain a current license and certification for theduration of the contract.

Responsible for the application of Integrated PestManagement (IPM) methods in controlling pests such as insects, rodents, birds,feral animals and termites. (10%)

Manages and mitigates a host of pests such asflies, cockroaches, rodents and ants. (5%)
Reports and monitors pest management operationsand activities. (5%)
Operates equipment related to pest managementtasks. (5%)
Performs Integrated Pest Management inspections.(5%)
Manages staff to ensure safe, ethical and robustprocedures are followed in accordance with regulatory guidance. (5%)
Assists in development and execution of pestmanagement educational and awareness training. (5%)
Organizesand / or attend meetings, representing applicable area of responsibility. (5%)
Ensuressite compliance and safe chemical management. (5%)
Compilesand develops technical documents. (5%)
Identifiesand uses developing technologies in order to improve current methodologies. (5%)
Assistswith ensuring regulatory compliance with regulations and guidelines. (5%)
Communicatesoperational issues and problems to management. (5%)
Provideseducational awareness of pest management practices throughinstructing / providing technician training.(5%)
Developspesticide application schedules and performs administrative functions(meetings, e-mail). (5%)

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENTDIRECTLY USED :
Requireduse of equipment includes but not limited to computers, tools, phone, vehiclesand pest management specific applicator tools and equipment such as traps andsprayers.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
Workis generally office environment. However, duties will involve the conductof work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climaticconditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130degrees in the summer months.
Potential exposure to chemical orbiological agents could exist. Employee use of Personal ProtectiveEquipment (PPE) in certain areas is required.
Such PPE includes but isnot limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearingprotective devices. Candidate must comply with all Fire, Safety and postpolicies.
Normal work week is 48 hours, but must be able to work overtimeor nights as required; to include, holidays.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
Workmay require heavy lifting (up to 65 pounds), stooping, climbing, prolongedstanding, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potentialcould exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted forone year of education, if degree is required.
Must have a current DoDCertification or State Certification with the appropriate sub-categories.
Must have a high school diploma.
Depending on education, requires a minimum of 1year of pest management experience.
Must have working knowledge Integrated PestManagement Practices
Experience in military environmental or chemicalenvironmental useful.

Musthave excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
