Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has awarded WorleyParsons a 5year $US 110m contract for the supply of Consultancy and Programme Managementservices related to the UNCC funded environmental remediation of the damagescaused by the Iraqi aggression against Kuwait in the 1991 Gulf War.

The contract aims to provide project management,co-ordination, planning, design, engineering, construction management,contracting, procurement, project controls and other services necessary for theremediation contaminated areas including wet and dry oil lakes, oil piles, andtransfer of technology.

The new contract expands WorleyParsons presence inKuwait which has grown the operation to over 400 people of some 20nationalities.

WP presently has a slateof projects under management at KOC under a previous PMC project. Each projectis in the mega-project category.

Mandatory Requirements

  • B.Sc. Environmental Engg.
  • Minimum 8 years of post graduation total experience
  • Minimum 5 years of post graduation experience in similar role
  • Reports to the Project Engineer.
  • Shall have experience in managingremediation technologies for oil contaminated soil .
  • Should be familiar with the necessary engineering and organisational controls required to prevent damage to the environment.
  • Should have experience in environmental issues in design, construction or operation of landfillinstallations, including handling permits for plants, utilities, water treatment, wastewater treatment, petrochemicals, oilfield production and related hazardous disposals.
  • Shall be capable of assisting / preparing Environmental Impact Assessment, conceptual site Modelling, Environmental Control for projects and ensure compliance during all stages of the Project.
  • Primary Objective

    Should have experience in environmental issues in design, construction or operation of landfill installations, including handling permits for plants, utilities, water treatment, wastewater treatment, petrochemicals, oilfield production and related hazardous disposals.

    Shall be capable of assisting / preparing Environmental Impact Assessment, conceptual site Modelling, Environmental Control for projects and ensure compliance during all stages of the Project.

    Specific Accountabilities

  • Project management and coordination of remediation programs, including the development and maintenance of project schedules and budgets and coordination of junior staff;
  • Responsible for the successful execution of remediation programs including remedial design / implementation, excavation supervision and confirmatory sampling;
  • Preparation and presentation to clients of technical correspondence, project proposals, reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets;
  • Regular communication with clients through verbal and written correspondence which may include presentations;
  • Interpretation of environmental regulations and investigation results to successfully meet the clients requirements;
  • Communication with regulators and stakeholders;
  • Supervision, training and mentoring of junior employees;
  • Quality assurance responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the quality assurance system relevant to the Contaminated Sites Group; and
  • Become familiar with WorleyParsons’ safety manuals and comply with WorleyParsons’ Health & Safety policies;
  • Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices for the Contaminated Sites Group.Understand and follow occupational health and safety procedures.
