POSITION SUMMARY :
Position requires thorough knowledge of mechanical design and engineering techniques, as well as CAD and graphics skills.
Responsible to plan and conduct independent work, requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical systems. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment as centralized heat, gas, water, fire suppressions and steam systems, irrigation projects, pipelines, sewage systems, and waste disposal to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability.
Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, Vectrus Safety Procedures and ASG-KU Standards.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES :
1.Direct and manage construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
2.Compute HVAC load and requirements, water flow rates, and materials to determine design specifications.
3.Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
4.Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints and topographical or mechanical systems data to plan projects
5.Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential mechanical studies and projects.
6.Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles.
7.Generating Statements of Work and reviewing Subcontractor Technical Proposals for accuracy and acceptance.
8.Assist and / or confer with engineers, customers, and others in developing programs for new projects or plan existing major repair projects.
9.Direct and / or participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
10.Performs assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from management and or engineering specialist on unusual or complex problems.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED :
Personal computer, printers, calculator, copy machines, scanners, FAX machines, phones, and other general office equipment.
Operates non-tactical vehicles as required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
Works in a general office environment.However, duties will involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130 degrees in the summer months.
Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist.Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required.
Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.Must comply with all Fire, Safety and post policies.
Normal work week is 48 hours, but must be able to work overtime or nights as required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
1.Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer
2.Minimum Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Must have at least 10 years of related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education / training and experience.
1.Knowledge of building mechanical codes and the ability to perform accurate load calculations
