The Pest Management Supervisor will beeither DoDCertified or aState-Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator with the appropriate sub-categories.
Additionally, the individual's certification must be authorized for theprocurement of restricted use insecticides and rodenticides.
A copy ofrequired currentcertification / license and refresher requirements from the certifying agent mustbe provided at time of hire to the Hiring Manager .
Additionally, the Pest Management Supervisor isrequired to maintain a current license and certification for the duration ofthe contract.
The Pest ManagementSupervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of theinstallation's Integrated Pest Management (IPM)procedures.
Most importantly,the Pest Management Supervisor must limit the useof unnecessary pesticide applications, prevent the application of pesticides byuncertified personnel, and enforce the use of personal PPE.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES :
Responsible for the application of Integrated PestManagement (IPM) methods in controlling pests such as insects, rodents, birds,feral animals and termites.
Applies EPA registered and DoD approved productsand chemicals for the control and prevention of insects and vegetation.
Position includes tracking, trapping andtransportation of feral animals.
Manages and mitigates a host of pests such asflies, cockroaches, rodents and ants.
Reports and monitors pest management operationsand activities.
Operates equipment related to pest managementtasks.
Performs Integrated Pest Management inspections.
Manages staff to ensure safe, ethical and robustprocedures are followed in accordance with regulatory guidance.
Assists in development and execution of pestmanagement educational and awareness training.
Organizesand / or attend meetings, representing applicable area of responsibility.
Ensuressite compliance and safe chemical management.
Compilesand develops technical documents.
Identifiesand uses developing technologies in order to improve current methodologies.
Assistswith ensuring regulatory compliance with regulations and guidelines.
Communicatesoperational issues and problems to management.
Provideseducational awareness of pest management practices through instructing / providingtechnician training.
Developspesticide application schedules and performs administrative functions(meetings, e-mail).
Manages supplies to ensure accountability andcontinual service.
May be called on to develop and presentinformation at senior level meetings.
Compilesand submits required reports to supervision and management.
Performsother duties as assigned.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED :
Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel,Powerpoint, and be able to locate hard-to-find items on the internet.
Must beable to drive and obtain a Kuwaiti Drivers License.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
Work is generally in an officeenvironment. However, duties will involve work in the outdoors with apotential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent duststorms, and high temperatures up to 130 degrees in the summer months.
Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist. Employeeuse of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required.
Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory,vision and hearing protective devices. Candidate must comply with allFire, Safety and post policies.
Normal work week is 48 hours, but must beable to work overtime or nights as required; to include, holidays.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
Work may require heavy lifting(up to 65 pounds), stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting,and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure tophysical, chemical or biological agents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted forone year of education, if degree is required.
Musthave a current DoD Certification or State Certification with the appropriatesub-categories.
Musthave a high school diploma.Must havevast knowledge and background in Integrated Pest Management techniques andimplementation.
Musthave at least 5 years’ experience in Pest Management supervisor capacity
Fiveyears’ experience in pest management or a related field.
HazardousMaterials experience is a plus.
Program Specific Requirements (annual and recurring certifications required in) :
40Hour or 24 Hour HAZWOPER
Mustbe able to supervise the activities of multi-national and culturally diversework force. Possess knowledge of safety and environmental and pesticidehandling.
Accustomed to dealing with IPM
Certification must includeauthorization for the procurement of restricted use insecticides and rodenticides.
Proficientin computer work including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Outlook
Mustbe able to work with limited supervision.
Priormilitary experience a plus but not mandatory
ExcellentEnglish communication skills both verbal and written.
Excellentorganizational and planning skills.
Excellentinterpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of workersand external high-ranking officials.
Mustbe self-motivated in order to complete job requirements without constantsupervision.
SUPERVISORY / BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides general supervision to a staff up to and exceeding 10 personneland reports to the Sr. ESH Engineer.
