Under general supervision, uses a variety of horizontal construction equipment to provide support to the Roads and Grounds Section.
Exhibits superior workmanship and focuses upon a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with a focus on quality.
Completes all tasks in accordance with local Environmental, Health and Safety directives. Assists leadership with the mentoring of new-hire personnel to develop appropriate skillsets.
Addresses customer concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES :
Operates one or several type of power / heavy-construction equipment such as bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers / graders, backhoes, excavators and compactors to excavate, move, load and grade earth
Loads and moves dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, and related equipment
Operates other power equipment at construction sites such as air compressors, road saws, trenchers and pumps
Performs digging, leveling and grading operations; builds berms, grades roads, levels ground and other similar tasks using construction equipment
Operates heavy paving and surfacing equipment to lay, spread or compact concrete, asphalt and other surface materials during road construction or repair
Aligns machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge markers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground, or position equipment following hand signals of other workers
Drives and maneuvers equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth
Coordinates machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members
Performs digging and leveling with hand tools.
Conducts pre-operational checks, lubricates and refills gas to equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED :
Material used include : Fuel lubrications, Solvents, Soil, Aggregate, Water, Lime, Cement, Concrete and Asphalt Equipment used include : Power / heavy-construction equipment such as bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers / graders, backhoes, excavators, compactors to excavate, move, load and grade earth, and other power equipment at construction sites such as air compressors, road saws, trenchers and pumps
Must have good knowledge of equipment gauges, dials, or other indicators and the proper-working characteristics of construction and related power equipment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT : Duties will involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months.
Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required.
Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Normal work week is 48 hours, but must be able to work overtime or shift as required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES : Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that are normally required.
In addition, visual acuity, hearing and speaking requirements would be considered. Consider this section carefully; any physical requirements must be able to be tied back to the major job activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid Kuwait Driver’s License, a home of country heavy duty driver’s license for operating construction equipment, and the ability to obtain a U.
S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s license for construction equipment.
Approximately three (3) years experience operating construction equipment.
Experience with material handling equipment (forklifts) is a plus.
Basic mechanical knowledge preferred.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret road maps and other posted regulations regarding transportation and parking.
Knowledge of US and Kuwait driving regulations and guidelines is preferred.
Must have an excellent understanding of safety directives and polices regarding the operation of construction equipment. Skills :
