The Lead Firefighter is responsible for responding toemergencies during designated and assigned Emergency Response shift of a 24 / 7Fire Station in accordance with the performance work statement.
Functional work includes, but is not limitedto, providing guidance to Firefighters, responding to emergency calls,investigating fires, training personnel, and completing required reports toassure the daily operational effectiveness of the department.
The qualifiedcandidate shall report to the Assistant Chief of Operations and work with ateam of fire services support personnel. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES :
Responsible for responding toemergencies as a Lead Firefighter and ensure the team adheres to NFPA 72 FireAlarm and Signaling, NFPA 101 Life Safety Codes and the AFI 32-2001 FirePrevention Program.
Responsible for communicating andupholding company standards, leading by example, and working as a team toprovide guidance to firefighters and support personnel.
Completes required reports anddocumentation as outlined in the performance work statement.
Ensure the maintainence ofvehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in a serviceableready-response condition.
Operates pumps, foam generators,boom and ground sweeps nozzles, and other similar equipment as needed.
Uses a variety of specialprotective gear in situations where poisonous gases, radioactive materials, andhazardous biological products are involved.
Exercises caution to avoid teamand personal injury and property damage.
Protect and preserve evidenceindicating incident cause for investigation.
Implements and follows operational policy, procedures andassists in the development of contingency plans.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENTDIRECTLY USED : Fire fighting apparatus, tools,ladders, equipment, and systems. Personal computer, printer,calculator, FAX machine, copy machine and other general office equipment.
may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment. Use of portableor vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of workactivities.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT : Work will be indoors and outdoors.Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur. Overtime and shiftwork may be required depending on contractual needs.
Employee must comply with all Federal, Stateand Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as writteninstructions.
Task specific workenvironment training will be provided as required. Must be prepared to functionin a wartime environment to support U.
S. interests. 100% Overseas Assignment. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES : Physical requirements includelifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, orstanding, stooping, stretching, and bending.
Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted forone year of education, if degree is required.
High Schoolgraduate with 2-3 yrs experience or Associates degree - equivalent related workexperience.
Must be FireOfficer I certified, Fire Instructor I certified, Fire Inspector I certified, andAirport Fire Fighter certified.
Current CPR certificationissued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Must pass andmaintain entry-level physical examination in accordance with NFPA 1582
Must have acurrent, valid U. S. Passport and Driver’s License (able to drive manualtransmission).
Must have andmaintain a valid U. S. SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment.
Must be able topass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge.
Must be able topass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological,medical, dental, drug
testing andbackground checks.
Candidates mustsuccessfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological,radiological and nuclear) defense
training.Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear.
Five years fire fighting experience in the US Military, DODor civilian.
Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook,Excel, Word, Power Point
Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, andwriting skills.
Performs all tasks IAW verbal and written instructions to theestablished standards.
Ableand willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements
Military experience in a contingency environmentand knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred.
OtherClearance Level required at Start Date : Secret
