Job Description :
The Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspector will inspect chemically treated metallic and nonmetallic parts and assemblies under fluorescent or black lighting for defects, such as fissures, weld breaks, or fractures, using magnetic particle or fluid penetrant inspection processes and equipment, using either of following methods : Immerses or sprays ferrous magnetic metal parts with iron oxide solution.
The inspector will position parts between electrodes of magnetic testing equipment and activates switch to induce magnetic field that attracts and accumulates iron oxide particles at defective points;
immerses or sprays nonmagnetic metal or nonmetallic parts with fluid penetrant solution; rinses excess solution from parts, and dries parts in oven.
Additionally, the inspector will remove surface defects using hand and power tools, or abrasive solutions. When necessary, the inspector will mark defected parts for repair, or discard depending on nature and extent of defects, and notifies engineers of defective processing of parts or materials.
The Inspector will generate test reports, certifications and deviation reports as needed.
This position is located in the Kuwait City, Kuwait, for the Kuwait Modernization program. This position is for a four month deployment.
Required Skills :
Have documented qualification / certification for MT Level II
Must be familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for magnetic particle
The ability to read and understand prints, routers and quality plans and to communicate the information contained
Must be able to use and maintain all common measuring instruments including caliper, micrometers, height gages and bore gages
Capable of following and using the tag system, completing inspection reports and filing quality records
An ability to learn additional measuring systems including CMM inspection / programming and
to operate computers
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Capable of performing calibrations, daily process controls, performing testing on Patriot related equipment and accessories, to include the radar system, for in-service wear, stress cracks with limited supervision as required
Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method used by Raytheon
Be capable of developing work instructions from approved general procedures
Basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology
Ability to use tools and techniques to perform tests
Experience in performing non-destructive tests and documentation
Desired Skills :
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures in quality control inspection field
Good analytical and creative problem solving skill
An ability to learn additional measuring systems including CMM inspection / programming and to operate computers
Required Education (including Major) :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification for MT Level II
Minimum of 40 hours of formal classroom training in Liquid Penetrant
Minimum of 40 hours of formal classroom training in Magnetic Particle
