Provides overall management and support of the Heavy Equipment and Material Handling team. This includes maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, supervising all field personnel.
Plans, assigns, supervises, and lays out the work of subordinate heavy equipment operators and work crews and may personally supervise earth moving in road, path and other maintenance and repair operations
Schedules / implements apprenticeship program for Local Nationals
Makes estimates of aggregates and other materials and supplies necessary to maintenance and repair activities.
Must evaluate equipment work for compliance to contract, design data, schedule, cost budgets, and quality.
Responsible for organizing and creating processes required to complete PWS, Work Order requirements of services.
Inspects proposed work and makes recommendations on the use of heavy equipment.
Reviews and monitors cost and man-hour budget for installation process and develops a staff facilities equipment and tool requirement plan.
Work with Airfield Management in the identification and resolution of SPALL's
Responsible for roads and grounds maintenance on 1,544,573 Sq Meters of paved roads, 2,303,280 airfield pavement, unimproved grounds, and retention basins.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Seven (7) years of responsible experience in the operation of a variety of heavy road equipment; OR
Five (5) years of experience supervising the operation and / or maintenance of a variety of heavy road construction trucks and road maintenance equipment engaged in the construction and maintenance of a large underground utility system or similar system.
Automotive or mechanical maintenance of construction trucks and / or road maintenance equipment alone will not be qualifying.)
Familiarity with the operation, maintenance and use of all types of commonly used, road construction and earth-moving equipment
Able to maintain effective relationships with private contracting firms, other city departments and the public.
Able to operate of all types of road and grounds maintenance equipment
Requires a current home country license, preferably a Class B CDL.
Prior Military and or AFCAP / LOGCAP experience in a related field.
