Purpose of Job : Database Administrators use database software to store and manage information. They will often set up database systems and are responsible for making sure those systems operate efficiently (usually referred to as database performance tuning).
They also make sure that the data they store is backed up regularly, stored effectively, and that the data is secure from unauthorized access.
Ensuring the data is available, by maximizing database uptime, is also an important function of the database administrator Responsibility and Duties :
Roles & Responsibilities :
Installing and upgrading the Oracle server and application tools
Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application
Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application
Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
Enrolling users and maintaining system security
Ensuring compliance with your Oracle license agreement
Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
Planning for backup and recovery of database information
Maintaining archived data on tape
Backing up and restoring the database
Contacting Oracle Corporation for technical support
Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products
Evaluate Oracle features and Oracle related products
Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
Take care of the Database design and implementation
Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
Do database tuning and performance monitoring
Do application tuning and performance monitoring
Setup and maintain documentation and standards
Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required
Do general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams
Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.

Minimum Qualification :
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
Oracle certification strongly preferred.
Minimum Six years of Oracle experience is required.
Expert ability to support Oracle RDBMS (Enterprise Environments) products and services.
Expert ability to upgrade, install and maintain Oracle RDBMS (Enterprise Environments) products and services.
Expert ability to support and maintain an efficient Oracle RDBMS (Enterprise Environments) production environment.
Expert ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems in an Oracle RDBMS (Enterprise Environments) environment.
Excellent ability to develop and implement procedures that support, maintain and enhance the Oracle RDBMS environment.
Excellent ability to develop and implement procedures that enable potential problem detection and avoidance, including disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Excellent ability to perform logical and physical data base design (entity relationship modeling / CASE methodology and CASE tools).
Strong working knowledge, experience and ability with Microsoft NT server operating system.
Excellent project management experience
Strong working knowledge in oracle RAC 11g R2.. XII. Additional Desired Qualifications Daily maintenance including monitoring and database maintenance tasks
