Performshigh-voltage (415 volt to 11 kV) electrical work involving the installation,operation, maintenance, repair and testing of high voltage electrical powergeneration and distribution systems to include facilities and related systems,transformers, generators, switchgear, metering and control systems, equipment,machinery and power appliances to within acceptable national (NEC) and local (MEW)codes, safety rules and electrical standards.
Exhibits superior workmanship and focus on a quality end product.Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with a focus upon aquality.
Verifies actual hours worked bypersonnel to reduce manpower expenditure.Completes tasks in accordance with the local Environmental, Safety andHealth directives.
Addresses customerconcerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.Correctly captures data on maintenance workorder requests and preventative maintenance inspection forms for upload intothe Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES :
Works on breakers, transformers, RTS or Protest relay testing, oiltesting, infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, performing start-upon switchgear up through 500kV class, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED :
Abasic set of hand and power tools used on the job
Testsets and other generator / power plant maintenance related tools / equipment
Repairparts used on various types and sizes of generators and other power plantequipment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
Dutieswill involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure toextreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and hightemperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months.
Potential exposure to chemical or biologicalagents could exist.Employee use ofPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required.
PPE includes but is not limited to head,foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.Normal work week is 48 hours, but must beable to work overtime or shift work as required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
Physical requirements include lifting,climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that arenormally required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted forone year of education, if degree is required.
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in power plantoperations, power generation, distribution, transmission and substationmaintenance required
NICET III certification in electrical power testing or equivalenttraining preferred
Comprehensive knowledge and skills in the theory,principles, methods and techniques used in the installation, repair, andmaintenance of high voltage electrical systems and equipment
Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standardsand safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of OSHA,EPA, NFPA, ANSI and the NEC
Skilled in power plant, substation, and utilityvoltages (480 volt, 2400 volt, 4160 volt through 13.8 kv)
Possess proficient English oral and writtencommunications skills
Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation,and teamwork
Exercise discretion and good sound judgment
Basic computer skills
