POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the COMMEL Supervisor performs theField Level Maintenance of electronic equipment at the journeyman level.
Perfommaintenance on all communications and electronics (COMMEL) equipment to includeinstallation, maintenance, and repair of tactical communication systems installedin track and wheel vehicle, intercommunications systems in tactical vehicles,night vision devices, and ground surveillance radars (GSRs).
Provides dailyjob-to-job guidance and assistance to maintenance personnel assigned to theelectronic integrated systems repair shop.
The Employee shall perform fieldmaintenance on. When directed by the Lead or Supervisor, the employee shallperform Field Maintenance on equipment that are managed within the Armymaintenance and supply systems.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES :
1.Performs full range of overhaulrepair and service of electronic equipment at the intermediate levels ofmaintenance.
2.Acts on work schedules, sequenceof operations and distribution of work.Completes and should be capable of explaining work assignments, methodsand procedures.
Gives technical adviceon new or changed procedures and assists with resolving problems.
3.Completes work in progress,conforming to standards and requirements.
4.Uses technical manuals, bulletinsand written directives in the performance of all work in progress.
5.Must be capable of giving andreceiving instructions.
6.Troubleshoots equipment, diagnosesproblems and performs corrective action.
7.Orders required repair parts usingappropriate parts manuals and / or automated systems.Tests overhauled / repaired equipment to ensureoperating efficiency.
8.May direct workers engaged incleaning and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
9.Perform other duties as assigned.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED :
Personal computer, printers,calculator, FAX machine, copy machine and other general office equipment. Commercial Electronic Diagnosticsand Test Equipment; AN / GRMM 122.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
Work is generally conducted in awarehouse environment. However, duties may occasionally involve working outsidewith a potential exposure to extreme temperatures.
Work may require heavylifting up, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, andworking with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure tophysical, chemical or biological agents.
Employee use of personal protectiveequipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes but is notlimited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protectivedevices.
Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
Work may require light lifting,stooping, climbing, standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areaswhere a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biologicalagents
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted forone year of education, if degree is required.
HighSchool Diploma or equivalent. Military or Civilian equivalent certification inElectronics repair. DD214 required to verify Military service and training
Aminimum of 1 year experience installing, repairing and maintaining vehiclecommunications and ancillary equipmentat thejourneyman level of intermediate maintenance.
